New Symon Installation  [11/9/2007 18:38:58]

Hi, everyone! I was really excited to find this site and am very excited about contributing as much as I can. My question: I recently implemented a Symon digital signage solution at one of our sites. The boards all have satellite feeds going to them. Additionally, there is a threshold alert built in to the Symon logic so an audible alert sounds when there are X agents available. Ideally, we do not want sound from the live video feed. We want that muted and the volume on the TV turned up so the audible alert can be heard. My onsite contact is telling me that there is no sound control on the satellite receiver. Has anyone else run into this problem? Am I overcomplicating this?! Please let me know if you have any suggestions. Thanks!

Symon  [11/9/2007 21:50:07]

I'm not a Symon expert, and as such I don't know how they've connected the Satellite receiver. However, I'd guess that it's a scart socket or similar. If this is the case then you can modify the cable and remove the sound wires, getting the result you desire.

Regards,
Darryl

Try this  [12/9/2007 06:28:31]

Hi Glenn,

It looks like it's pins 2 & 6 you'll
need to isolate.

Do check it's standard though, there is a seperate layout
for *SOME* comms platforms.

PIN Number Function

2 RH Audio - In
3 LH Audio - Out
4 Audio Common, 0 Volts
5 Blue Return, 0 Volts
6 LH Audio - In
7 Blue Out, 0.7V p-p, 75 Ohms
8 Function Switch Out / 16:9 Switching
9 Green Return, 0 Volts
10 Not Connected
11 Green Out, 0.7V p-p, 75 Ohms
12 Not Connected
13 Red Return, 0 Volts
14 Not Connected
15 Red Out, 0.7V p-p, 75 Ohms
16 RGB Switch
17 Composite Video Common, 0 Volts
18 RGB Switch 0 Volts (Pin 16 Return)
19 Composite Video - Out
20 Composite Video - In
21 0 Volts (General Return)
