"Are your Red Fox?"  [19/11/2003 11:32:13]

Our area is often involved in "sensitive" projects, which has led to an increasingly bewildering range of secret project code names. Even better, everyone claims to know somethig about them and drops project names to boost apparent heirachal status.

So this is my master plan...

1) Select an appropriate project name e.g. Project Snark
2) Select your marks being sure to choose those most often claiming to be "in
the know"
3) Next time you see your marks in the corridor ask them "Did you hear Project
Snark has been given the green light?"
4) Guage their reaction carefully -
a)if they admit ignorance then cover up with "sorry, shouldn't have said
anything, forget I mentioned it... etc"
b)if they play along claiming to be "in the know" you've got 'em! Wrap up
with "keep it schtum" or similar admonishen
5) Send confidentiality forms to all marks, with a cover note explaining that
after your conversation you realised they had not been placed on the
insider list, and could they please complete the forms and make sure they
do not breach confidentiality under any circumstance

6) Repeat steps 3-5 until all marks have been landed
7) Book a room somewhere off the main track, and send a meeting invite to your
marks, entitled "Project Snark - CONFIDENTIAL".
8) Clear your desk... just in case!

If all goes to plan, you will have a room full of people none of whom know why they are there, none of whom can admit that they don't know why they are there, and none of whom can ever tell anyone what happened. If you have the right culture, you should even avoid repurcussions yourself, as they will be aware that they first lied to you by claiming to be in the know!
GENIUS!

When I finally raise the last few ŁK for my dive centre, I shall use this for my swan song - please feel free to use it for your own!
