Analogue phones and networks...  [14/5/2001 11:44:19]

Hi.

Does anyone have any data about analogue versus digital telephone networks - i.e. what areas of the UK are still served by analogue switches/exchanges and what percentage of the population still use pulse dialing. I'm curious because I recently had to try to use an ACD-based call centre from an old, analogue phone (with pulse-dialing) and I couldn't get anywhere.

Very annoying!

Rob.

Aren't all of the local loops now digital?  [15/5/2001 08:26:48]

I thought that that was an objective that had been met a while back (at least in mainland Britain, anyway). Is this the case?

Jim
