URGENT: Your website needs you - (follow up to Basic Skills)  [4/2/2005 10:15:00]

If you take 5 minutes to read any posting here today: make it this one.

I'm sure we're all aware of what's happened to our community over the last few days and I hope it's made everybody stop to think. It's a great shame to lose a valuable member of the team and I hope he returns soon.

The issue here is that there's 5 or so people that contribute 95% of the content to the site, and 94 of the 95 comes from one man in bonnie scotland. None of these people are paid for doing this - it's all out of love for CCV.

Commenting on this is fine but acting on it is even better. It's now time for us all to act.

This community is self-run, and therefore it's up to you to stimulate it. If you want to get good content out of it you need to put good content into it. It's important that we enlargen our user base, and try and help others the way we have been helped ourselves.

Please don't ever feel frightened to ask a question (however silly it may seem) - everyone has to start somewhere. The important thing is to ensure that you make some effort to find a solution yourself first. The amount of times I've seen an answer that was preceeded by "I found this on Google...". Why on earth wasn't this checked before the post was made?!

If you feel upset about Dave leaving, then take some action:
* Consider writing for the blog. Especially if you're female and an agent/supervisor. All three blog diarists are male thus far, and none of them actually work *that* close to the coal face.
* Put a link to CCV on your website, your newsletter and your email signature.
* Get other people in your organisation to join CCV. This website is relevant to all different disciplines; so think Agents, Managers, IT, Directors - they could all contribute.
* 'Voicemail me if you think you could write a useful reference article / white paper on a subject that you are good at.
* 'Voicemail John if you've got any ideas for improving the almost-perfect CCV.

Regards,
Darryl

New call for contributions...  [11/1/2006 10:29:45]

As it's a fresh new year, we'd like to see if anyone would be interested in adding any interesting articles in advance of CCV's 5th Birthday (in April)?

Contact us if you'd like to help - all offers considered!
