A CallCentreVoice Conference - for discussion...  [16/1/2004 10:43:56]

Hi everyone.

As our numbers are fairly high now, we thought we'd poll to see what kind of interest there would be in a CallCentreVoice conference - something which might buck the trend of the usual dull, uninspiring and corporately anonymous conferences that usually happen.

Such a conference would be hosted probably in either Edinburgh or Glasgow in Scotland, and would be a chance for everyone to meet and network whilst promoting the various organisations we represent, with an emphasis on 'Promoting Best Practice for the 21st Century Call Centre'.

Obviously this is just an idea so far, and it would depend upon the level of interest and the availability of a suitable venue and sponsorship, but if we could discuss it as a concept and see what kind of interest there is, it would help.

What I was thinking of...  [22/1/2004 07:48:40]

Basically, people register for the conference via this site or by telephone; we organise a few guest speakers & a venue, and offset those costs against a reasonable registration fee plus income from exhibitors, and we emphasise the social and networking aspect by having some sort of event in the evening.

As I said, just an idea so far and of course these sorts of events are expensive to run so it wouldn't be free but it wouldn't be vastly expensive either.

Thoughts?

Nice idea.  [22/1/2004 08:47:39]

John,

I like the idea of what you're suggesting. I think it would be really valuable to have a worthwhile convention where we shared ideas rather than the usual 'sales' events. That is to say inumerate stalls with increasingly desparate attempts to generate interest\visitors so that they can sell you something you don't need or want.

A different type of 'worker co-operative' convention with a sharing of ideas and thoughts where we all aim to add value whilst also sharing our collective knowledge, all without a contract waiting to be signed!

Count me in if it get's off the ground.

Nice Plan  [22/1/2004 13:07:24]

Great Idea. A conference would be a perfect way for us to meet each other and share ideas/experience. Edinburgh would be good or I'm also partial to Newcastle.

Would be very interested to sign up if it's a goer.

Good Idea  [22/1/2004 14:21:23]

This sounds a fine idea. Especially if there is someway to split down inot groups, in a similar way to the forums. For example I am interested in the technolgy apsects but not so much the work planning etc. But if it get off the ground I would be willing to attend.

Good Idea  [23/1/2004 16:09:25]

Hi,

Yes I too would be interested. For pure selfish reasons I cannot see past Glasgow as a conference venue. Mix that with the shopping and the nightlife (only 2.5% commission from Greater Glasgow Tourist Board!) and we'd have a fantastic conference. We could move it every year anyway. I suggest an idea of numbers is gleaned and then potential venues sought and costed.

Great Idea   [2/3/2004 10:57:50]

Sounds like a great idea! As still fairly new to the industry, being able to spend time in the company of experienced people like yourselves would prove very helpfull. Have you had any ideas about when??

Great Idea  [2/3/2004 15:32:57]

Hi,

I think this would be a great idea, it's difficult to find events that are focussed on knowledge sharing without the sale attached.

Could make for an interesting evening event. Glasgow would be my recommendation (not that I am biased - I'm based here!).
