A Career After the call center  [4/7/2003 09:19:19]

The call center executives and agents are in a place where the life spans are very narrow. The burn out rates are high and with the age group of executives getting into the profession coming down, there is the issue of what happens to the corporate life after the call center. Everybody doesn't become a team leader and with the schedules as tough as they are, an alternate career is not in the mind till the executives are reaching the end of their productive life in a call center.

This is especially true for a country like India, where the call center boom has taken place over the last few years.

Is there a solution or a alternate opprtunity for these executives.

Re: A Career After the call center   [19/9/2003 03:18:58]

Hi Mageshwaran,
Neverthless to mention tht the reply U r getting is a little late, anyway, was just browsing thru the forum and came across ur question, thought wud put some light on the unheeded aspect which U have picked up very nicely...
Assuming a slump of call center Industry, we can say in a way it can certainly prove to be hazardous to the career of the call center agents, as U had a very validating fact "an alternate career is not in the mind till the executives are reaching the end of their productive life in a call center".
The passifying element which serves the purpose here on this discussion can be the inevitability of "Customer Service" regardless of the Call center existence...With the growing emphasis and focus on "Customer Contentment and Retention", at any point of time there will be a need of "Customer Service Division" in domestic and intenational companies, thus this option is always open for these guys........
Speaking in particular about International Call Centers, I believe mastering in communcation(The Language English) which the guys subcontiously end up with, will certainly have different forays and opportunities plattered to them -------

Note - (Perspective* is Specific to Indian Market).......
Hope the explanation proves convincing........Shud U need any further clarification...do revert..
Regards,
Rizwan......
