Digital signatures and online transactions  [26/5/2001 15:34:24]

Hi readers!

In India the Digital siganture law is enacted and secure online transactions will start in couple of months. Knowing Indians mentality, I strongly believe that Indians may fill up the form for purchase but will definitely hesitate topunch in their Credit card Number. Is online transactions on Internet secure?? If secure How secure are they?? Can we trust the dot coms and e-com site owners. are cyber security laws capable of handling online crimes???

New thoughts and processes in contact centres for enabling e-commerce are available. Can others add to this discussion???

Trust within the web  [28/5/2001 12:44:20]

Good question. In general, there should be no problem with online transactions; in terms of trust, there is little difference in that regard to any other form of transaction involving (say) a credit card. Moreover, the credit card companies are now offering protection to online purchasers against fraud on the internet. So, in general, if you use a credit card (say, Visa) on the internet for your purchase, you are covered in most cases, and at worst I believe your losses would be limited to a small sum (say, £50 or equivalent).
