Call center facility planning  [26/2/2002 20:21:30]

I would love to hear experience and advice about what makes a successful call center facility, in regards to the physical environment. What are the most important issues?

Acoustics
Lighting / CRT comfort
Building image (for community or for employees)
Building amenities for employee retention
Access to daylight / views
Building cost
Furniture

Any feedback on these or other priorities would be greatly appreciated!

A bit late for an answer, but in case anyone else wants to know.
Single most important issue in my experience is AIR CONDITIONING.

Need to qualify that.

Consistent air conditioning without the hot/cold spots.

Good point, I forgot to add that.
The other thing to have is clearly a displayed thermometer/hygrometer together with a published standard of what the call centre environment should be, temperature humidity etc. More info here

Contact Centre Set Up's  [14/6/2005 13:37:17]

A slight deviation from the current subject as I never yet found the answer to solving the air conditioning problem!

I am currently working on a project to create a template for setting up small contact centres from scratch, this would act as a guide for any SME looking to expand into this area. It would need to be generic rather than specific.

Does anyone know of work that has been done in this area?

Regards,

Colin

Hi Julian...
I have had 12 years experience working in and then with Call Centre environments. There are many issues to be considered from the location to the airconditioning through to the users employed. All can be difficult to control but I find that if the individual user can be made to feel important and given an office environment that is exciting then this basic achievement generates amazing results !! and it is very simple. Good furnishing, supported by areas that provide complete opposites..! like Playstation or Scalectrix Areas.. Is fantastically motivational !

My company has set up a number of satilite sites, some worked well and others have had to close.

The Fist and most important point as far as our experience is accessibility. Most part time agents do not want to travel to thier work.
