The holy grail!  [17/12/2005 08:46:26]

Not really about self-motivation, but a way to stop yourself getting demotivated:
I believe in having an up-to-date task list and always working from it. Prioritise all the work on it, and don't do anything that's not on the list.

I find this gives my day a purpose - I don't end up feeling like I'm fighting fires all the time. It's also very nice to be able to tick things off the list - even if it was a very small task it makes you feel like you're making progress.

Regards,
Darryl

Me  [18/12/2005 16:52:57]

I took a step down.

I now no longer have to manage people. I have a manger that tells me what to do, and when to do it. I now get praised for the work I do, not just from the customer but also from peers. I have not had that before. By g*d is feels good.

So basicaly to get motivated do one simple job(very well) for somebody else. IF they say 'thankyou' thats all the motivation you need. Thankyou is by far the most powerful word there is.

If you are trying to motivate others, just use the same word. BUT only when its due. Use it too much and its worthless. Also make sure that the others know you have said it, because then it becomes infectious.

May be  [19/12/2005 07:27:28]

Thanks Darryl and Paul,
I think I need self motivation more because I am at beginers level in orginazation. I face lots of problems which leads to demotivations.
some time some-one else (seniors)takes credit of your efferts, and when some thing goes wrong than you are resposible for all of it. Also all base and ground work will be done by ous and final name for project or idea will be of somebody else only.
And it's not only been experience by me but many of my friends and co-workers who are at same level felt the same things happening around you which againg more demotivating.
IS it true that all junior level people do suffer same thing world wide or only few hard working people do suffer for working more than expected?

Thanks,
Rachana.

Self Motivation  [19/12/2005 17:31:28]

Rochana

In the (far off) past I have felt unmotivated due to the tings you mention. I decided that I was not going to let these things, keep me feeling down about my role. Through being determined to do the best job that I could possibly do, I motivated myself. This in turn then turned into recognition from others (superiors), which then motivated me more.

Self motivation is exactly that.... YOU are responsible for it and need to dig deep to keep your goals in view and strive to be the best that YOU can be.

Remember that all of the people above you probably started at the bottom and worked hard to get where they are now. Even if it seems that now they take credit for your hard work. I firmly believe that if your keep striving forward, you will be rewarded in the end.

Make sure that you note your achievements so you can talk about them at appraisal or review time. Just looking back at what you have achieved yourself will help you to stay motivated.

Good Luck

Dear Sue,
I know what you are saying i absoulatly right and may be that is the reason why still I have not loose my hope and I strongly belive that the day will come when I will also get rewards for work I have done.
I have posted this view because I will find people like me or people who must have seen and being in this stage of life, I think this is also a way to motivate your self to see other people who are at this stage have gone throu the same.

Thanks & Regards
Rachana

Self Motivation  [21/12/2005 15:17:07]

I work to this:

"Always seek to excel yourself. Put yourself in competition with yourself every day. Each morning look back upon your work of yesterday and then try to beat it" (Charles Sheldon)

This helps me in times of low motivation!
