I'm with you Darryl.
When I used to do collections on excess credit card spend it was policy not to leave the company name, the reasons 1) so we didnt embarrass the customer should someone else hear the message as at that time telemarketing didnt exist and the only reason you rang a customer was to claim overdue payment and 2) They would not ring us if they knew who it was, make out you're a friend ringing.
Just like most things these days it is the wrongdoer who gets most of the protection, a few bad egg Finance company's spoiling the fun of the chase for the rest.
I wish there was a law that if I asked the telemarketer outright at the beginning of a call if they are trying to sell me something they had to answer yes. Or even better, they had to start any conversations with a disclaimer "The following call is a lame attempt by us to sell you something you dont want! Press 1 to accept or just hang up" |
