Very vague question  [27/2/2004 11:07:40]

You will need to provide more information. I can see from your activity log that you've not tried searching on the site - if you do so you should find that this topic has been covered on a number of occasions before.

One Point  [27/2/2004 13:27:46]

If you are in the UK, then make sure that you get the relevant ICSTIS approval. You should ideally get this before obtaining the premium rate number and definiately before you start operating the service.

There are many number providers out there, but BT is a good starting point. (No I am not advertising them).

OFTEL  [27/2/2004 14:00:32]

Another good starting point, as i believe they govern the issuing of premium rate licences.

Setting up a call centre carrying out Premium Rate Services  [1/3/2004 12:47:21]

Thank you all. I've searched the website but haven't found any previous topics regarding PRS. My main concern is this service is not going to be in the U.K, do i still have to register with ICSTIS or OFTEL?

Premium Rates  [1/3/2004 13:19:59]

Debra

If it's servicing into or out of the UK it will be under Offcom's
jurisdiction.

If it's an Ex uk number and they disapprove or there are complaints
I'm not sure HOW they handle them but they do!

Premium rate stuff  [1/3/2004 16:56:42]

I take it you are planning to terminate the calls in a different country than where the premium rate number is for? e.g the premium rate number is an Estonian premium rate number but you plan to answer the calls in the UK?

If so it can be a minefield, let me know if thats the case.

Setting up a call centre carrying out Premium Rate Services  [5/3/2004 17:34:53]

I am basically looking at starting the PRS idea with various networks in the Asian region where it is not currently available and i know i have to set up a call centre for this. But being do i still have to register with OFCOM or OFTEL or whichever is the regulating body in the U.K?

PRS  [8/3/2004 10:21:26]

I'm not sure that you do have to, the problem is still this though. Where do you plan to terminate the calls?

Setting up a call centre carrying out Premium Rate Services  [10/3/2004 17:14:39]

Well the calls will originate and terminate in the country where i'll be rpoviding the Premium rate services. It does not involve the U.K in anyway. Do you know about Premium rate numbers Neil? I would like to learn a lot about that as well as setting up a call centre for it.

Premium rate overseas  [11/3/2004 10:00:43]

In my experience I would echo Neil's comments. PRS overseas is a minefield in terms of availability of tariffs, willingness of consumers to call premium rate numbers and, most importantly, the consumers rights/suppliers obligations in providing a service governed by the in-country equivalent of ICSTIS. There are still significant issues in the UK with interconnect for all land and mobile networks just to allow access for all callers. I don't know about Asia.

Premium rates  [15/3/2004 13:51:53]

I would undertsand some areas, particularly in a European context. I'm not sure how much you want to reveal about what you are planning but the more I know the better I can perhaps assist whether through the forum here or if necessary offline.

Setting up a call centre carrying out Premium Rate Services  [18/3/2004 15:22:24]

Paul i actually faced some problems with the in house equivalent of the ICSTIS in these countries. But about the willingness of customers to call PRS numbers i have no problem there. Neil, as you have rightly pointed out i can't divulge too much information here, but I would be much obliged if we can discuss offline as your suggestions will prove beneficial.

Do you have an email  [19/3/2004 10:20:34]

Debra

Do you have an email that I can contact you at to begin with? I'd be keen to send some of the knowledge back into this forum as some of the specific issues that you face, others will have in future. We'll strip out the specifics though!
