Headset Providers  [13/10/2003 12:30:16]

Hi,

Looking for good value suppliers of headsets. esp Plantronics Supra Mono. Cheapest I can find so far is £55 plus vat (I'm in the UK)

Also, any opinions about the cheaper sets described as 'for Home/Office workers for all day use'. Are they likely to stand up to the rigours of 3 hrs calling per day or should I just resign myself to paying three times as much for something that will last proportinately longer!

Thanks

Z

Headsets  [13/10/2003 13:24:55]

A few years ago we did a survey of headsets in a call centre I was working for, we got agent to measured VOLUME, DESIGN, COMFORT, DURABILITY etc etc all from their perspective.

Plantronics came out top every time. Although cost is of course significant if they dont serve the agent well then they may not be the optimum solution for the business or the customer.

I like Plantronics a lot too.

IMHO they are virtually indestructable, and voice tubes and ear pads can be replaced easily and cheaply.

I am not a fan of the amplifier sets - too many bits to go wrong and the need for fresh batteries is always a tempting excuse for a 30 minute wander around away from the workstation.

I currently have (inheritted when moved organisations) a mix of GN Network and Voice Active, The former I find clumpy, and the latter I find flimsy - never happy eh!

I am going to push for Plantronics as being worth it, but as it won't actually come from my budget (! - don't ask), the final decision is not mine. I've found a source for refurbished Plantronics, which may tempt and be the best compromise

Ultimately though I may just have to send the big tangle of broken ones off for repair and be satisfied with that!

Zoe,

I agree on the Plantronics.

The Land Rover (in terms of durability)of Headsets.

We do have a few Clement Clarke around here but the price tag
matches the quality!

Go with what you know.

NB:

If you're buying the Plantronics new there is a spare voice tube
but not earpiece foam pad with each so don't get any more voice tubes
until you need to.

Headset  [14/10/2003 15:04:40]

hi
you can try Danacom headsets. They are very light and has special
Acoustic Shock protection for the ears.

Price should not be the first thing when deciding on the headsets. go for long term benefit/service and quality.
incase price is the concern i can suggest heasets for under $58

Weve tried lots of different makes but what we found best was going to an independent company who could offer impartial advice without having allegience to any manufacturer.

There are quite a few independents around but IMHO I found www.headsetsales.co.uk very helpful

Hope this helps

Message to Zoe Edmonds re headsets  [23/12/2003 15:31:46]

Hi Zoe

I work for Plantronics and wanted to make you aware that we offer a 'buy back' facility for larger numbers of headsets. Basically if you are interested in buying new Plantronics headsets and are based in the UK, we will buy back your old headsets, regardless of make, model or condition (they don't even have to be working!)provided that you buy the equivalent in new Plantronics products. Would this be something that is of interest to you?

Cheers Liz,

I'm sorted for now (found a huge box of headsets in the back of our storage facility), but I expect to be looking to replace en masse towards the end of next year, and was not aware and am interested in your buy back facility.

Thanks for letting me know!
