Hi Madhav

I would put it this way. You need to
1. Identify core and thrust products and services areas
2.Formulate groups with prior and relevant experience
3.Define ways of sales day-to-day functioning
4.Identify individual groups who do Account and Revenue based Sales
5.Ways of lead generation could be direct or indirect
6.Indirect is Distributors/Dealers/Retail
7.Define Market and geographical segments
8.Draw a business and marketing plan
9.Business Objective should be firm and planning could be extrapolated based on results
10.You could have certain Marketing Consultants to assist in your marketing

This is pre-dominantly important.Other issues are definitely there.

Thanks & regards
K Narayanan

Dear Mr.Narayanan K
I am a regular visitor of this site have learnt lots of new things and am always striving hard to go for more.I did read about your article and it makes a lot of sense.Just have a small doubt, assuming that i have convinced a client abroad and am looking forward for a deal with him.
In this case how do i make sure that the company i am suppose to deal with, is a Legitimate company and i would receive payments on time.
Is their any way by which i could find out about their legitimacy, if so please let me know.
Regards,
Ryan Scott.

Verification & Internal Sales  [3/5/2003 06:22:42]

Hi Ryan

I know of an organization in North America-Better Business Bureau which essentially gives details about the company you are dealing with.

In other countries there are certainly Regulatory Bodies like NASSCOM in India, which may provide the needed assistance.

Regarding generation of leads for a IT/BPO company, it means a whole lot of work. Let us divide this into Direct and Indirect Marketing Efforts.

1. Direct - Identification of Market segments and solicitation
2. Indirect - Identification of Qualified and Experienced Companies which assist in Outsourcing and Project Mapping/Finalisation
3.Brand Building of Company represented - Advertisements thru the Internet and Local Print Media Adverts
4.Marketing Consultants - Known and professional consultants who have a definite plan for your company. This needs a lot of due diligence to avoid parking of energies in the wrong place and direction

These I believe are broadly the ways. The crux is Brand Building thru well know and world-class Strategic Alliances, may be Technology or otherwise. Then leveraging this alliance to tap more business.

Basically, such alliances will help reducing the number of capability and trust based issues with the direct client. These act as Good Facilitators.

Let me know
