The good news is, being silent and just reading on this site is so rewarding, you hardly want to interrupt it to add your two cents worth.

But, there is this 'warm/fuzzy feeling' when you take a moment to jot a line or two - especially if you're able to help someone. Shawn, your bold step is gong to be the first in allowing many others to post as well. Your voice is very valuable.

I'm from sunny Brisbane, Australia. The Goodwill Games opened last night here, and my son and I have tickets to the gymnastics tonight. I notice a few of you are from the States - I'll be watching the swimming in earnest over the next few days - you may have got more swimming medals at the Olympics - bet we had more Golds! Ian Thorpe and Peter ven den Hoogenban (USA) go head to head tonight - watch out!

On the Contact Centre side - I've managed as well as set up call centres mainly in Australia (up to 120 seats) since the early 80s. I've just finished as Project manager for a $6.4M (AUS) project - 100 seater in country Australia, and am now looking for my next challenge (anywhere).

It'sgreat to have this web-site for similarly interested people to share ideas and grow the industry. Great work John, and everyone else - can't wait to get to that chat room.

I'm from sunny Edinburgh - except during the festival when I try to avoid the place and it usually rains.
I work in Fife and I develop systems that are used in call centres for banks.

Surprised to see only one other person from Ireland speaking up, especially as they are not from Dublin (Call Centre capital of Europe according to a sign in the airport).

Good to see an even divide between the UK-the USA and Asia. Gives us all the benefit of knowledge of the different working practices.

Currently, I am in Oklahoma City, OK, US. I left the call-centre envoironment two years ago, but I am preparing to reeneter when I move to Washinton DC next month. In preparation, I have looked at a number of forums, and this one is the best I have seen, so I just joined.

There are several contributors here who participate regularly and look to have provided much assistance to others (like me). Whether or not they are marketers of a call centre product or service, this is one of the best ways I have seen to develop business as a provider to call centres. If you sell a product or service to call centres, and you use this forum to share knowledge and develop relationships, best of luck - I admire your marketing spirit.

I'm a brand new member and the first (I think) from Wales! To be a bit more precise I'm actually Scottish but moved to Wales last year to set-up a new Call Centre in this beautiful part of the world.

I'm currently looking into the possibility of working within the Call Centre industry in Canada (my fiancee is Canadian)and would greatly appreciate any help any of you might be able to offer me.

I am based in Basildon, Essex (UK), and with all the references to weather above I just need to add that it's cold and rainy...
I have just registered but intend to become a regular visitor.

Jenny, I sympathise! Since the clocks went back on Sunday, the weather has become quite a bit colder and I know that winter is coming...
